Key Notes
C# and .NET modernisation across Trainline’s Cloud Native Acceleration Programme is the core of this £85,000 to £95,000 London role. The engineer containerises legacy services for Amazon ECS, creates reusable migration patterns and develops automation for product teams. Relevant expertise also includes Terraform, CI/CD, distributed systems and AI-assisted engineering experience, with office attendance of at least 60% over 12 weeks.
What You'll Work On
- Modernise existing .NET services for Amazon ECS by containerising applications, removing legacy infrastructure dependencies and optimising cloud-native runtime behaviour.
- Build resilient distributed systems with improved health checks, fault tolerance, observability and performance across Trainline’s modernised backend services.
- Create reusable .NET migration templates and standards covering dependency injection, configuration, logging, monitoring and deployment across engineering teams.
- Develop automation and AI-assisted tooling that analyses existing services and generates infrastructure or deployment scaffolding for cloud migrations.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines and champion cloud-native practices through design reviews, documentation, demonstrations and mentoring across Trainline engineering.
Why This Role Matters
- Trainline’s Cloud Native Acceleration Programme uses containerisation, shared .NET templates and migration automation to move legacy services onto Amazon ECS with reusable approaches across engineering teams.
- Modernised backend services need reliable runtime behaviour; improved health checks, fault tolerance and observability address operational incidents while shared delivery processes support more consistent releases.
