A two-year employment training contract will provide supervised qualifying work experience in Arriva’s in-house legal team from September 2027. Based in Sunderland with at least three office days each week, the trainee supports operational, commercial, regulatory and personal injury work. Candidates must have passed SQE1 and SQE2 before the start date and hold permanent UK work rights; any degree discipline is accepted, and applications close on 27 November 2026.
What You'll Work On
- Support legal advice for operational teams and commercial growth projects during structured placements, working under supervision from qualified solicitors.
- Contribute to regulatory compliance and company secretarial matters, helping the passenger transport business address legal requirements across its activities.
- Work on personal injury matters within the legal function, developing practical case experience under the training contract’s qualified solicitor supervision.
What They Are Looking For
- Qualification: A degree achieved or in progress in any discipline; 2:1 preferred, with strong 2:2 applications considered.
- Eligibility: Pass SQE1 and SQE2 before September 2027 and be eligible to commence a training contract, with permanent UK work rights.
- Technical: Analytical judgement, critical thinking, attention to detail and professionalism, with interest in commercial law.
- Stakeholder: Strong communication, relationship-building and collaborative working skills.
- Eligibility: Availability to start in September 2027 and willingness to travel as required.
