What You'll Work On
- Supervise engineering teams and plan workshop resources, supporting safe maintenance and vehicle availability against the depot’s peak vehicle requirements.
- Maintain work sign-off, team briefings and handovers, monitoring safety, contractor practices and regulatory compliance across engineering operations.
- Analyse breakdowns, lost mileage and underperformance, supporting preventative maintenance and action plans that improve fleet reliability and depot efficiency.
- Support recruitment, performance reviews, absence management and technician development, identifying skills gaps and building capability towards engineering-management responsibilities.
What They Are Looking For
- Experience: Strong engineering experience in maintenance, servicing or overhaul, ideally heavy vehicles or plant machinery.
- Qualification: A recognised apprenticeship, vocational qualification or relevant engineering or vehicle-maintenance degree or diploma.
- Domain: Sound health-and-safety knowledge and commitment to safe workshop practice.
- Stakeholder: Proven team supervision, communication, organisation and problem solving.
- Experience: The desire and capability to progress towards Assistant Engineering Manager.
- Preferred: Bus or HGV, DVSA standards, engineering KPIs, budgets and fleet-availability planning are desirable.
