Technical Trainer and Assessor

Alstom UK & Ireland London, United KingdomOn-SiteFull Time

Key Notes

Technical training and competence assessment across train depots are the main responsibilities of this Wembley Traincare Centre post, paying £60,000 plus bonus; Alstom does not expect candidates to have every listed skill. Work is mostly on days, with nights, out-of-hours duties and travel to other UK sites when required. A Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent is listed; recognised trainer and assessor qualifications are desirable.

What You'll Work On

  • Develop and deliver courses covering depot technical systems, software, plant and equipment, working with technical staff to keep the material current.
  • Assess and certify staff competence, maintain auditable learning and competency records, and contribute to internal verification and assessment standardisation across projects.
  • Conduct depot task risk assessments and in-process competence checks, and provide training assurance evidence for internal and external compliance audits.

Why This Role Matters

  • Depot employees must be trained and competent for assigned tasks, with assessed competence and auditable records providing evidence against current legislation and industry standards.
  • Depot production must continue around training and assessments, so the training plan accounts for site requirements, different shifts and the timing of staff release.

What They Are Looking For

  • Qualification: A Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent, is sought.
  • Technical: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic systems is sought, alongside Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Eligibility: A current driving licence is sought for the role's travel between depots.
  • Preferred: Recognised trainer and assessor qualifications are desirable.
