Senior Systems Integration Engineer

Vertical Aerospace Bristol, United KingdomOn-SiteFull Time

Key Notes

Electro-mechanical or complex powertrain integration experience is requested for this full-time Bristol position. Reporting to the Head of EPU, you will own the Electric Propulsion Unit’s physical installation, interfaces and configuration. Experience can come from aerospace, automotive, marine, rail or similar systems; a relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience is accepted.

What You'll Work On

  • Define the EPU installation within the aircraft digital mock-up, producing CAD models and drawings that maintain space allocation as designs evolve.
  • Control physical interfaces, configurations and integration requirements, aligning suppliers and engineering teams around verifiable installation definitions and consistent build information.
  • Reduce installation mass while preserving structural margins, working with stress and fatigue specialists and supporting verification tests and certification documentation.

Why This Role Matters

  • The EPU installation forms part of the aircraft’s load paths; controlled interfaces and structural evidence allow engineers to assess how propulsion hardware fits the wider airframe.
  • Changes to propulsion packaging affect space, mass and manufacturing information, requiring configuration consistency between design models, analysis and the hardware ultimately built for verification.

What They Are Looking For

  • Experience: Relevant experience includes electro-mechanical or complex powertrain integration across relevant transport or engineering sectors.
  • Qualification: Relevant qualifications include relevant engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Technical: Relevant technical capabilities include CAD such as CATIA, physical interfaces, requirements and configuration management.
  • Preferred: Preferred attributes include HV systems, stress/testing, DOORS/JAMA and MATLAB/Python.
