Key Notes
Aircraft-level handling qualities certification is the main experience filter for this full-time Bristol role. You will set the Valo flight dynamics compliance approach and work across Flight Controls, Flight Test and Simulation. The qualification route allows either a relevant bachelor’s degree with extensive experience or a master’s/PhD with significant experience.
What You'll Work On
- Set flight dynamics and handling qualities certification strategy, defining compliance approaches and the technical evidence required for aircraft-level approval.
- Review analysis, simulation and test documentation, coordinating technical agreement with airworthiness authorities and the internal teams responsible for aircraft behaviour.
- Guide engineers from initial analysis through flight-test correlation, resolving whole-aircraft questions and influencing technical decisions across the participating disciplines.
Why This Role Matters
- Valo handling qualities certification concerns interactions across the whole aircraft, requiring consistent evidence about flight dynamics beyond the behaviour of individual components and systems.
- Comparing simulation analysis with flight-test observations checks whether aircraft models represent measured behaviour, strengthening the evidence used to substantiate flight-dynamics and handling-qualities compliance.
What They Are Looking For
- Qualification: Relevant qualifications include relevant BS with extensive experience, or MS/PhD with significant experience.
- Domain: Relevant domain knowledge includes aircraft flight mechanics, handling qualities certification and aero-propulsive interactions.
- Technical: Relevant technical capabilities include aircraft simulation models, validation and flight-test requirements.
- Stakeholder: Relevant stakeholder skills include technical strategy across disciplines and engagement with certification authorities.
