As Ember’s first People hire, this Edinburgh generalist will build HR practices for a growing electric bus operation. The role handles sensitive employee relations, policy development, compliance and people reporting, supporting teams that work varied shifts across Scotland. Pay is £40,000–£50,000; demonstrable HR experience and/or qualifications are required, CIPD Level 5 is highly desirable with equivalent hands-on experience welcomed, and effective use of AI tools is expected.
What You'll Work On
- Advise City Leads on employee relations and wider people matters, managing complex or sensitive cases where appropriate across the bus operation.
- Lead compliance and onboarding checks and help develop People and HR policies that can support growth across locations and markets.
- Support professional development and recruitment initiatives, working with operational colleagues to strengthen people practices and team capability.
- Produce HR reports and metrics for business decisions and develop employment law understanding, using relevant systems and AI tools effectively.
What They Are Looking For
- Experience: Demonstrable HR experience and/or qualifications; exact senior industry experience is less important than practical capability.
- Technical: Ability to learn technology systems quickly and use AI tools effectively.
- Stakeholder: Strong written and verbal communication, organisation and relationship-building with diverse operational and technical colleagues.
- Preferred: CIPD Level 5 is highly desirable; equivalent hands-on HR management experience is welcomed.
