Operations Supervisor

Arriva Group Stamford Hill, United KingdomOn-SiteFull Time

Key Notes

Stamford Hill’s bus operation combines driver coverage, vehicle allocation, lost-mileage control and day-to-day safety management. This supervisory post coordinates Engineering, monitors operational KPIs and works with Trade Union representatives. Supervisory experience, health-and-safety and PCV/HGV knowledge, and a First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one are essential; a workplace pattern is not specified.

What You'll Work On

  • Oversee day-to-day bus-service operations and ensure scheduled duties are covered with appropriate drivers and vehicles.
  • Manage lost mileage, service disruption and local operational KPIs and coordinate with Engineering on vehicle availability.
  • Promote depot and road safety, identify unsafe conditions or behaviours and support Arriva’s HS&E management system.
  • Manage driver attendance, briefing, absence records, duty allocation, timekeeping and overtime while supporting staff development.
  • Investigate customer complaints, implement preventative actions and maintain constructive relationships with Trade Union representatives.

Why This Role Matters

  • Stamford Hill’s scheduled bus operation depends on complete duty coverage and available vehicles, so supervisory decisions around drivers, overtime and disruption determine how much planned service actually reaches passengers.
  • Lost mileage, safety and customer complaints are monitored as operating indicators, making the supervisor’s corrective actions material to both service reliability and depot performance.

What They Are Looking For

  • Experience: Supervisory experience in a staff or resource-management role is essential.
  • Domain: Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and standards is essential.
  • Qualification: A valid First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
  • Domain: Knowledge of the PCV/HGV industry is essential.
  • Stakeholder: Experience working in partnership with Trade Unions is essential.
  • Technical: Proficient IT skills are essential.
