SQL pipelines and data-warehouse foundations are the work of this First Bus junior engineer. You’ll support Azure Data Factory loads, clean datasets and reporting models with analysts and engineers. A relevant degree or equivalent practical experience and previous data-related work are required, with SQL and some Python or R familiarity. The permanent, full-time UK remote role pays £30,000–£35,000 and is aimed at early-career applicants; Azure experience or interest is welcomed.
What You'll Work On
- Build and maintain Azure Data Factory and SQL pipelines, supporting reliable datasets for First Bus reporting, analytics and data-science requirements.
- Modernise warehouse structures and data models with analysts and engineers, translating reporting needs into consistent and well-organised data solutions.
- Monitor data loads and troubleshoot basic pipeline or data-quality issues, improving reliability and accuracy of the central analytical datasets.
- Document datasets and naming conventions, collaborating on shared Data and Analytics standards and maintaining consistency across reporting and engineering outputs.
What They Are Looking For
- Qualification: A relevant computing, data, engineering or mathematics degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: Previous data-related work through an internship, graduate scheme or first role.
- Technical: Good SQL and understanding of data structures and queries, with some Python or R.
- Technical: Interest or experience in Azure Data Factory or similar pipelines and enthusiasm for cloud technology; Azure is preferred.
- Stakeholder: Collaborative learning and attention to data quality and consistency.
