Apprenticeship Development Manager

Transport for London London, United KingdomHybridContract

Key Notes

Deep knowledge of employer-provider apprenticeships, DfE funding, Ofsted and safeguarding is required for this end-to-end learner-management post. You’ll oversee induction, placements, progress reviews, performance, reasonable adjustments and programme compliance for apprentices, including people in operational and safety-critical settings. The 12-month fixed-term Acton role pays circa £47,000 and is hybrid; applications close 27 September 2026.

What You'll Work On

  • Manage apprentices through induction, placements, progress reviews, assessment plans, performance support and successful completion across operational and safety-critical environments.
  • Coordinate placement managers, trainers, assessors and external providers so on-the-job and off-the-job learning meet scheme requirements.
  • Update apprenticeship delivery plans as standards change, integrating specialist training, reasonable adjustments and targeted interventions for individual learners.
  • Maintain evidence and controls for DfE funding, Ofsted, awarding bodies, safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety and TfL quality audits.

Why This Role Matters

  • TfL apprentices move through placements and progress reviews towards recognised qualifications; recorded learner progress identifies where additional support or changes to training arrangements are needed.
  • DfE funding, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements apply to TfL’s apprenticeship provision; complete records allow the employer-provider to demonstrate how training and learner support meet those requirements.

What They Are Looking For

  • Qualification: Level 3 qualification or equivalent professional experience, plus safeguarding training at Level 2 or above.
  • Domain: In-depth knowledge of employer-provider apprenticeship delivery, DfE funding rules, Ofsted and awarding-body requirements.
  • Stakeholder: Applicants need ability to coach apprentices and influence placement managers, trainers and assessors across multiple teams.
  • Experience: Applicants need knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, equality, diversity and health and safety in learner environments.
  • Technical: Applicants need capability using HR, learner and reporting systems to track progress, evidence and audit requirements.
