UK-wide customer-site travel is part of this hybrid support post, alongside home working and the Derby and Chippenham offices. The engineer provides first- and second-line support for Vehicle Equipment Measurement Systems, including log analysis and fault investigation. Corrective-maintenance experience in rail or another safety-critical transport setting, a Category B licence and willingness to travel extensively are required; health checks apply.

What You'll Work On

  • Provide first- and second-line technical support for measurement systems, investigating incidents and system faults affecting service availability and operational performance.
  • Analyse system logs and conduct fault investigations, documenting findings and recommendations and monitoring system health to identify emerging problems.
  • Resolve client technical queries and work with customers and engineering colleagues on system fixes, enhancements and opportunities to improve the support service.
  • Support installations and on-site work across the UK, applying knowledge of the installed equipment and travelling or staying away when required.

What They Are Looking For

  • Experience: Relevant experience includes corrective technical support in signalling, measurement systems or other transport/safety-critical environments, with safe-working knowledge.
  • Technical: Problem-solving, IT literacy and the ability to learn new technologies and systems are sought.
  • Preferred: Railway IT, cyber security, Python, industrial software/hardware, electrical engineering and relevant safety qualifications are desirable.
  • Eligibility: A full Category B driving licence and health checks are required; PTS training applies where required for site access.
