Senior Planner

Siemens Mobility Derby, United KingdomHybridFull Time

Key Notes

Planning authority for a major rail project or several smaller projects sits with this Derby role, covering resource and cost-loaded schedules, tender mobilisation, critical paths, earned value and change scenarios. Major-infrastructure planning experience, NEC accreditation and advanced Primavera capability are listed. Rail-industry experience and railway-signalling knowledge are preferred; a technical, engineering or business background is listed.

What You'll Work On

  • Develop and maintain resource- and cost-loaded plans under Rail Infrastructure UK project-management, planning and PM@Siemens procedures.
  • Coordinate project, commercial, finance, site and possession planners to align detailed activities with the main project schedule.
  • Develop tender plans into contract plans through mobilisation with the Bids and Tendering team, and agree planning solutions with clients.
  • Analyse critical paths, earned value, KPIs and schedule delays, and prepare periodic reporting for internal and client teams.
  • Model proposed project changes for risk, cost, resource and delay implications, and mentor junior planners in planning practice.

Why This Role Matters

  • Rail Infrastructure UK project schedules combine resources, costs and possession activity; coordinated planning makes those dependencies available to project and programme managers controlling delivery.
  • Proposed project changes can alter cost, resources and timing; scenario modelling and critical-path analysis expose those implications so project and client teams can assess the options.

What They Are Looking For

  • Experience: Planning major infrastructure projects is sought; rail-industry experience is preferred.
  • Qualification: NEC accreditation is sought.
  • Technical: Advanced Primavera capability and knowledge and use of other planning tools such as Microsoft Project are sought.
  • Experience: Leading a planning team delivering major infrastructure projects is sought, preferably in rail.
  • Domain: A technical, engineering or business background is sought; railway-signalling knowledge is ideal.
