SmartMobilityTalent

Software Engineer, Simulation

Wayve London, United KingdomHybridFull Time

Key Notes

Production software experience with both C++ and Python is required for this full-time, hybrid London position. You will initially focus on large-scale open-loop evaluation within Core Simulation, while contributing to shared simulation components. Relevant simulation, robotics or complex-system experience is essential; sensor modelling and machine-learning inference integration are desirable.

What You'll Work On

  • Develop simulation components in C++ and Python, integrating driving-stack features and vehicle-platform capabilities into the shared open-loop and closed-loop codebase.
  • Investigate differences between simulated and road execution, tracing issues across sensor data, inference and interacting software components with adjacent engineering teams.
  • Improve reproducibility, test coverage and observability, profiling performance and delivering scoped tooling changes that support increasingly large simulation and evaluation workloads.

Why This Role Matters

  • Realistic simulation behaviour lets Wayve evaluate interactions between its learned driving system, sensors and vehicle components, giving engineers test results that can be compared with road execution.
  • Differences between simulated and on-road execution can undermine interpretation of test outcomes, requiring reproducible runs and diagnostic evidence to identify the source of those discrepancies.

What They Are Looking For

  • Technical: Relevant technical capabilities include C++ and Python, with depth in at least one, alongside production software delivery.
  • Experience: Relevant experience includes simulation, robotics or complex interacting software systems and debugging.
  • Technical: Relevant technical capabilities include performance trade-offs and validated use of GenAI development tools.
  • Preferred: Preferred attributes include sensor data, ML inference, vehicle dynamics or large-scale compute.
