External financial reporting and technical accounting are central to this six-month Trainline contract. You’ll lead IFRS accounts, audits and cashflow forecasting, advise senior decision-makers on complex accounting judgements and strengthen financial controls. The full-time London role requires a qualified accountant with substantial experience, listed-business reporting knowledge and people leadership. Hybrid working includes at least 60% office attendance over a 12-week period.
What You'll Work On
- Produce the Group’s IFRS annual and half-year financial statements and annual report, and oversee UK and international subsidiary statutory accounts.
- Lead year-end and half-year external audits and reviews, keep stakeholders informed and present papers to the Audit Committee.
- Own Group cashflow forecasting and analyse liquidity, capital allocation and capital structure to support CFO and Board decisions alongside Treasury.
- Research complex accounting questions, implement new standards and explain defensible positions to senior management, auditors and advisers.
- Lead Finance’s contribution to the Provision 29 material-controls framework, maintain accounting policies and support reporting, budgeting and business projects.
What They Are Looking For
- Qualification: Qualified accountant status and significant post-qualification experience, including meaningful industry experience in a listed business and a record of meeting reporting deadlines.
- Technical: Extensive IFRS and technical accounting expertise, including complex areas such as multi-currency consolidation, share-based payments, EPS, impairment, revenue recognition, leases and business combinations.
- Experience: Experience researching and implementing new accounting or reporting standards, with analytical judgement to identify errors and anomalies.
- Experience: Proven people management and development of high-performing teams across multiple disciplines, supported by strong project management, delegation and independent working.
- Eligibility: Candidates currently in practice should be operating at Director level or above, with substantial experience advising listed groups on complex technical matters.
- Preferred: Openness to occasional travel to the Paris and Edinburgh offices is helpful.
