What You'll Work On

  • Introduce and develop the ETCS driver training simulator, coordinating efficient training plans and change activity with Hull Trains’ operational managers.
  • Deliver simulated scenarios and competence examinations and assessments, including seasonal and out-of-course situations and practical handling training where required.
  • Support simulator testing, evidence recording, reports and lessons learned, ensuring safety validation identifies and mitigates risks before changes are implemented.
  • Assist daily driver team functions and participate in the management on-call roster, acting as operational lead during assigned duties.

What They Are Looking For

  • Eligibility: UK train driving licence, current train driver competence and at least three years of experience.
  • Qualification: Vocational training and NVQ assessor qualifications, or progress towards them, plus coaching and mentoring qualification or experience.
  • Domain: Have or obtain Class 80X traction competence and required Doncaster–London and diversion route knowledge; understand ETCS and professional driving non-technical skills.
  • Technical: Competence with Microsoft Office and specialist software; previous simulator use is advantageous rather than essential.
  • Stakeholder: Calm communication, teamwork and operational response under pressure.
