On highway and development schemes, you’ll lead drainage design for highway and development-infrastructure projects, managing technical delivery, budgets, resources and client relationships. The role covers flood-risk assessments, statutory approvals, design packages and mentoring within a growing team. Consultancy experience, surface- and wastewater design knowledge and strong drainage-software capability are sought. This is a permanent hybrid role across Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow or Newcastle.
What You'll Work On
- Lead surface-water and wastewater drainage design from feasibility through detailed design, managing technical packages and the associated statutory applications.
- Coordinate project finances, resources, programmes and multidisciplinary interfaces, including flood-risk assessments and the design support required during construction work.
- Develop engineers and technicians in drainage delivery and contribute to bids and client relationships for current and prospective commissions.

- Drainage proposals must account for surface water, wastewater and flood risk, with assessments and statutory submissions documenting the basis of the engineering solution.
- Infrastructure designs contain interfaces between drainage and other disciplines, with coordinated technical packages defining the arrangements taken forward into construction and subsequent site queries.
What They Are Looking For
- Experience: Civil-engineering consultancy work delivering drainage on major and minor projects.
- Technical: Strong use of AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage; Civil 3D knowledge is beneficial.
- Domain: Knowledge of Sewers for Adoption, Sewers for Scotland, DMRB and related standards.
- Experience: Applicants need project-management experience covering financial, commercial and client responsibilities.
