Senior Quantity Surveyor

SYSTRA London, United KingdomHybridFull Time

Key Notes

In a senior commercial post, you’ll provide senior client-side commercial leadership across capital programmes, managing cost, schedule, contracts and supply-chain risk. The role leads billing assurance and payment review, prepares contractual notices, tracks change and earned value, supports dispute resolution and mentors junior commercial colleagues. A relevant degree, chartership or progress toward it, at least five years’ NEC experience and strong post-contract claims, payment and final-account expertise are sought. The London post is permanent and hybrid.

What You'll Work On

  • Lead client-side assurance across programme cost, time, quality and risk, managing NEC changes, forecasts, notices and commercial support for disputes.
  • Review billing cycles and supplier applications, prepare payment recommendations and check mobilisation controls within the programme’s contractual arrangements and assurance processes.
  • Maintain budget and risk reports and coach junior commercial colleagues on the evidence and processes required for client-side assurance work.

Why This Role Matters

  • Transport capital programmes carry cost, contractual and supply-chain risks; commercial reviews of work packages make emerging exposures visible before they undermine forecasts or funding decisions.
  • Contractual notices and payment records provide evidence for claims and disputes, allowing clients to assess supplier entitlements and proposed changes against the agreed contract.

What They Are Looking For

  • Experience: High-value infrastructure work, preferably in a client-side setting.
  • Experience: Applicants need at least five years’ NEC experience and proven change-control management.
  • Experience: Applicants need strong post-contract reporting, payment, variations, claims and final-account expertise.
  • Qualification: Degree in commercial management, quantity surveying or a related field.
  • Qualification: Applicants need chartered membership of CICES, RICS, CIArb or equivalent, or progress toward it.
  • Stakeholder: Applicants need ability to mentor junior colleagues and manage senior client relationships.
