This role leads highway and transportation infrastructure schemes from feasibility through detailed design and approvals. You’ll control civil-engineering scope, finances, teams, technical outputs and client delivery. Substantial highways consultancy experience and a relevant civil-engineering degree are required; chartership or progress towards it is sought. This is a permanent hybrid Newcastle role.
What You'll Work On
- Lead highway and drainage design for public and private development-infrastructure projects, managing technical outputs, financial controls and delivery programmes.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs and statutory approvals, including drawings, specifications, estimates and reports needed for the assigned civil engineering packages.
- Manage engineers and technicians, maintain client relationships and support proposals for highway and development-infrastructure commissions within the team.

- Highway and development schemes involve interfaces between design disciplines, with principal engineering review establishing how technical proposals meet the project’s requirements and approval standards.
- Clients commission infrastructure designs against programme and budget commitments, with the principal engineer accountable for coordinating team outputs and resolving technical issues during delivery.

- Experience: Applicants need substantial highways or development-infrastructure experience in consultancy.
- Qualification: Applicants need MEng, MSc or BEng in Civil Engineering and chartership or progress towards professional qualification.
- Experience: Applicants need strong knowledge of highway design standards, approvals, CDM and project commercial control.
- Technical: Applicants need autoCAD/Civil 3D capability and experience leading teams and client delivery.
