Key Notes
Early-career applicants are encouraged to take ownership of Bike Club’s continuous-improvement programme at Rainham, alongside more experienced candidates. The hands-on role spends significant time on the warehouse floor across bike intake, refurbishment, dispatch and returns. A relevant degree, some operations exposure and Excel-based analysis are listed; internships and thesis projects can provide that exposure. Fluent English is the working-language criterion.
What You'll Work On
- Lead Bike Club’s continuous-improvement roadmap across bike intake, refurbishment, dispatch and returns, setting priorities and reporting progress to leadership.
- Map the end-to-end bike value stream and run kaizen, A3 and root-cause sessions with mechanics, operators and team leads.
- Define operational KPIs and deploy standard work, 5S, visual management and pull-based flow across the warehouse and refurbishment workshop.
- Plan capacity and layout through workstation design, station balancing, tool placement and bike-flow analysis.
- Build operational reporting across Excel, WMS, Salesforce and BI tools while working with last-mile providers on failed deliveries and returns leakage.
Why This Role Matters
- Bike Club’s intake-to-return value stream determines how quickly refurbished bikes reach families; bottleneck analysis, standard work and KPI tracking target cycle time, rework and dispatch performance.
- Refurbishment capacity depends on workstation layout, station balance and bike flow; planning these together gives warehouse teams practical ways to accommodate the operation’s growth.
