Senior development-planning and project-direction experience is required for this Associate position. You’ll lead development-management commissions, oversee planning evidence and client relationships, and manage up to six colleagues. Based in Reading or Bristol with hybrid working, the permanent role also includes bids and responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects.
What You'll Work On
- Direct development-management and transport-planning commissions covering local plans, masterplans, planning applications and environmental-assessment inputs.
- Act as Project Director on selected work, setting scopes, budgets and programmes and assuring the quality of technical advice and reports.
- Lead client, developer and authority relationships, presenting evidence and negotiating practical transport outcomes through the planning process.
- Manage and develop a team of up to six people while contributing to proposals, workload planning and growth of the regional practice.

- Experience: Applicants need substantial development-management or transport-planning experience gained in consultancy, a local authority or a comparable development-control environment.
- Qualification: Applicants need MSc in transport planning and engineering or equivalent relevant qualification and experience.
- Stakeholder: Applicants need proven ability to scope and direct commissions, manage budgets and programmes, and lead client and stakeholder engagement.
- Preferred: People-management and bid experience; chartered membership or progress toward professional accreditation is desirable.
